Field Application Engineer
The primary purpose is to provide OEM customer program management from first customer contact to design win to production for embedded wireless modules. The position requires an excellent team-player capable of working closely with sales, engineering and customers to manage and facilitate successful customer engagement from inquiry to order and the completion of development projects. The daily activity includes but is not limited to supporting sales in determining customer requirements for their projects by attending customer meetings, joining conference calls, and providing responses via email or calls. Developing relationships for effective and continuous interaction with the engineering team and third party engineers is essential for consistent and prompt customer inquiry or problem resolution.
Role and Responsibilities
- Manage OEM Customer Engagements from initial customer contact to design win to production
- Track (in Silex CRM), manage and resolve customer pre-sales, implementation, and post-sales design concerns.
- Define and prepare technical content for customer presentations and sales proposals.
- Meet with customers to discuss product requirements. Create system level block diagrams and Product Requirement Documents to outline major components and interfaces in the customer design. Accurately communicate customer requirements to Silex engineers.
Wireless/RF
- Experience integrating wireless components and/or modules, especially Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
- Analysis of antenna requirements a plus.
- General knowledge of regulatory certification requirements.
Firmware Design
- Development of project requirements, including specialized firmware, documents and specifications in support of overall project planning.
- Programming skill a plus.
Position Requirements
- BS in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science or related field
- FAE or design engineer experience in the embedded systems domain; with design and development of firmware in C is a plus.
- Knowledge and Proficiency in Linux Operating System and Linux embedded programming
- RF Software (hardware is a plus) design experience preferred, particularly in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth products.
- Experience with wireless networking and security protocols is preferred.
- Schedule focused mindset with on-time completion of deliverables.
- Experience with developing application notes, technical customer support packages, RMAs, PCNs, field notification bulletins and competitive threat repositioning are added skills to enhance the postion.
- Occasional overnight travel as required to support the customer.
- Certified Wireless Technology Specialist (CWTS) certification a plus.
- Other responsibilities as provided by management.
