Silex Releases SDK to Provide iTunes Network Sync Capability

VirtualSync enables iPod dock OEMs to easily provide networking capabilities

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah – Sept. 9, 2009 – Silex Technology America, Inc., a global leader in product networking solutions, today announced the availability of VirtualSync™ SDK (Software Development Kit), specially designed for Apple® iPod® dock manufacturers. It is the industry’s first SDK that enables developers to add the capability of synchronizing a docked iPod with iTunes over either a wired or wireless network.

Currently, when users want to synchronize their iPod with iTunes, they are typically required to connect their iPod either directly or via a USB dock, to a PC or Mac through a USB connection. This setup often presents a cumbersome scenario for sophisticated music lovers, especially where the rest of the audio system is designed to work flawlessly across the home.
VirtualSync SDK empowers iPod dock OEMs to include unique software capabilities that seamlessly connects the iPod with the rest of the existing home network and enables the iPod content to become remotely transferrable.

Whether in-wall or stand-alone, VirtualSync SDK provides a better user experience by allowing the OEM to create value added functions using the SDK.

“Silex has enhanced the level of the Virtual USB technology over five years into the SDK product from our experience with consumer and business applications,” said David N. Smith, president of Silex Technology America. “Our robust iPod networking know-how should be more widely available so that AV OEM customers can easily create their own unique elegant solutions for their end users.”

The integral part of VirtualSync SDK is the market-proven USB IP firmware source code. The Linux®-based product is hardware independent and currently optimized for Linux 2.6.18 or greater. With the code size being 50KB, the simple code porting can be quickly completed requiring virtually no hardware platform change. In addition to the VirtualSync SDK, Silex can also provide a Client SDK that includes unique virtual USB drivers, APIs and DLLs, which allow developers to intuitively integrate the networked iPod-iTunes sync management into the existing application program in Windows or Macintosh.

VirtualSync SDK is available by contacting Silex Technology. To find out more, please call 801-748-1199, or visit: http://www.silexamerica.com/products/ipod_connectivity/virtualsync_sdk.html
