Digital Signage Connectivity

 Active Image

Silex’s newest product line brings real-time multicast video and audio to the digital signage market.  Our Multicast Video Distribution System (MVDS) allows you to connect large numbers of digital signs to a video source.  Unlike traditional analog-based video distribution systems, MVDS works in both wireless and wired digital signage applications because of its innovative digital multicast technology. This product is perfect for applications like advertising, airport information displays, entertainment, classroom instruction, courtrooms, and much more.

MVDS Video Distribution System

  • Powerful video distribution system that handles up to 32 wireless displays or more than 1,000 wired displays
  • Uses standard Ethernet cabling and hardware for compatibility with existing network infrastructures
  • Unique multicast digital technology eliminates signal degradation over long distances

Real-time Synchronized Quality Video and Audio Distribution with Multiple Display Support

The content displayed in a digital signage installation can range from a high quality still image up to a high-definition full motion video with audio.  The Silex Multicast Video Distribution System offers high quality compression technology of video and stereo audio with real-time capability using synchronized distribution technology over IP from a single source to multiple displays (up to 32 wireless or up to 1000 wired displays).

Wireless Capabilities Lower Costs and Provide Fexibility

A major advantage of the Silex Multicast Video Distribution System compared to competing solutions is its wireless capabilities. The cost of a hardwired installation with a large number of displays for digital signage deployment can be very expensive due to the cost of running cables. Wireless technology offers superior return on investment compared to traditional Cat-5 cabling, and provides the additional advantage of installation flexibility by allowing displays to be placed in almost any location.  To provide maximum security, the MVDS features advanced 128-bit encryption.

Widescreen Resolution

Digital signage, particularly in retail, requires screens comparable to HDTV for displaying informational content with advertisements. The Silex Multicast Video Distribution System supports both 1024 x 768 (XGA, 4:3 aspect ratio) traditional television size and 1280 x 768 (WXGA, 16:9 aspect ratio) resolution.  The wide format support creates more advertising space and is compatible with the latest the latest high-definition displays.

Strong Wireless Connectivity with Fast Recovery Mechanism

In an outdoor environment more than one radio can cause interference depending on the location and configuration.  The Silex Multicast Video Distribution System is designed for robust connectivity with pefast recovery from a lost signal. Based on many years of Silex wireless research and experience, the system offers a variety of antenna options in conjunction with Silex manufactured wireless modules to ensure maximum stability and performance.

Reliable Wireless Network and Longest Distance Coverage

The Silex Multicast Video Distribution System was  designed especially for wireless digital signage. The wireless range is up to 100 feet omnidirectional, and up to 500 feet line of sight with directional antennas. The video is distributed without any picture quality loss.

Embedded Solution and Remote Control

Outdoor digital signage installations often use waterproof metal cases with enclosed LCDs or plasma displays.  The Silex Multicast Video Distribution System is available as an embedded solution that can be incorporated in these types of cases to meet the industrial level requirements for quality and durability.  In addition, the MVDS can be remotely controlled for display adjustment and environment from a transmitter connected to the computer or other management device using an RS-232C serial interface.
