The S2 can be used as a desktop solution or a portable solution. It is small enough and light enough to slip in your pocket or attach to a lanyard and where around your neck. It has all of the benefits of the S1 with the addition of an IS0-7816 SIM card reader/writer. The SIM card included with the S2 allows you to carry all of your authentication and user credentials with you. This reader can also be used to increase security by allowing for multifactor authentication – fingerprint authentication (biometric), password/PIN code (knowledge) and SIM card (position). The docking station included makes it easy to swipe with one hand. When removed from the docking station simply hold the S2 in one hand and swipe with the other. The S2 can also be used as a portable fingerprint reader without the smart card.

High Security The S2 combines different authentication methodologies, i.e. IC (authentication using a physical item), PIN (knowledge-based authentication), and fingerprint (biometrics authentication) to ensure a high level of security.

Highly Accurate Images The Silex S2 fingerprint reader uses RF technology that penetrates the surface of the skin to the corium layer. This enables people who have struggled with dty, worn, moits or other finger conditions to reliably use a fingerprint reader for the first time. The sensor also uses a series of rate sensors that allows Silex to accurately recreate the fingerprint image without the normal distortion associated with a swipe sensor.

Convenient The design allows you to use the S2 anywhere you like. Another great benefit is the ability to use the credentials stored on the smart card on any PC. The S2 can quickly be removed from its docking base and easily carried on a key ring or lanyard.

Durable The S2 is extremely durable as the fingerprint sensor is encoded with Kapton and is not exposed as most fingerprint readers are.
