The SX-520 serial device server provides the easiest method to connect, access, and monitor RS232 serial devices over a network. Connecting serial devices over a network extends the life of legacy equipment allowing them to work with newer networked systems. Using Silex’s SX Virtual Link software for Serial Com Port Emulation allows for easy integration with existing PC applications not designed for network communications.

Application Examples

Serial Port Emulation:
The SX-520 includes Silex’s serial port emulation software allowing Windows software applications that communicate directly to a serial port to now communicate over the network to the serial device attached to the SX-520.

Serial Port Emulation

ECable Mode:
The SX-520 features Silex’s ECable mode allowing serial data to be tunneled over the network between devices connected to SX-520s. Using the SX-520 UDP Multicast capabilities data can be sent from a PC to two or more SX-520s simultaneously.
