1. Prepare configuration information for a wireless LAN

To use wiDock over the wireless LAN network, you need to configure wireless LAN information as appropriate for your network. This information needs to be identical to the communication devices such as the access point. Please collect the following information before the setup.


Wireless mode There is Ad hoc and Infrastructure mode. Select Infrastructure mode to communicate via access point.
SSID This name is used to identify devices to be connected to a wireless LAN network. It is also known as ESSID.
Encryption method No encryption Communication data is not encrypted.
(No information needs to be confirmed when encryption is not used.)
WEP Communication data is encrypted based on the encryption key (WEP key).
WEP key size (64bit / 128bit), WEP key and Key index must be the same as the communication device.
WPA / WPA2 Communication data is encrypted based on the encryption key (Pre-Shared Key).
Pre-Shared Key and encryption mode (TKIP / AES) must be the same as the communication device.


2. How to find SSID

If you don't know the SSID of the wireless network you want to connect wiDock to, you can find it by looking at the settings on Windows XP or Macintosh computer. (If your are using Windows 2000, you can find the SSID in your wireless LAN card. Please refer to your wireless LAN card manual for details.)

For Windows XP

  1. Click Start - Connect To - Wireless Network Connection.
    Click View Wireless Networks.

  2. The name (characters) shown in the list where Connected is indicated is the SSID for the wireless LAN used in your PC.

For Macintosh

  1. Click AirPort icon in the menu bar on top of desk top.
    The name (characters) with the check mark in the menu is the SSID for the wireless LAN used in your PC.
