Change the Configuration Using the Web Browser

This page explains how to change the configuration using the Web browser.

Since the HTTP protocol is loaded on wiDock, advanced settings for wiDock can be configured or changed through a Web browser. Useful functions including remote restart of wiDock and status monitor are also available.

  • If you wish to change the network settings of wiDock but wiDock is not detected in your network environment, you need to initialize wiDock. For the initial configuration, please refer to "Configure Network Settings (for Windowsfor Macintosh)".
  • We recommend a Web browser to show below.
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher
    Netscape Navigator 7.1 or higher
    Firefox 1.5 or higher
    Safari 1.0.3 or higher
  • The following explanation is an example when using Internet Explorer in a Windows XP environment.
    Display may vary depending on the Web browser.
  • Please use the AC adapter bundled with wiDock. Other AC adapters may cause unexpected damages.
  • If wiDock has been used in another network, reset it to the factory default settings before you start the configuration. (Please refer to "Reset to Factory Default " for details.)
  • If enabling the Windows XP embedded firewall function or using a firewall function of commercial security software, disable the firewall function while configuring wiDock. Refer to our support FAQ page on our WEB site at ( http://www.silex.jp/ ) for details.

1.Display the Web page of wiDock

Open the Web page to configure wiDock.
Enter the host name of wiDock into the address bar of the web browser and click Go.

  • The host name of wiDock is a string of SX plus the serial number of wiDock. If the serial number is "001122", the host name will be SX001122.
    The serial number is the last 6 digits of the Ethernet address which can be found on the bottom of wiDock. Please refer to the "Parts and Function" for details.
  • For Safari on Macintosh, the following is the procedure to display the web page of wiDock.
    1. Click Bookmark  , and click Bonjour (or Rendezvous) in the left pane.
    2. Double click the host name of wiDock in the right pane.

Example:  If the Ethernet address is 00:80:92:00:11:22
Enter SX001122. ( It will be displayed as http://sx001122/ )

Status Information of the iPod connected to wiDock and the status (mode) and operation status of wiDock can be viewed.
Easy Configuration Configure wiDock in 3 steps.
Detailed Configuration Configure the detailed network setting of wiDock. 
System Information Displays system information and log.  Reset to factory default and restart is available.

2.Configure from the Web page of wiDock

Click the item you wish to configure from the configuration items displayed in the Web browser.
A configuration screen will be displayed in the Web browser.

  • Before configuring wiDock, user name and password are required. When the screen below is displayed, type a user name (root) and password, then click OK.
    ( No password is configured on factory default settings. )

Easy Configuration

Click the Easy Configuration tab. Start the configuration in the order of "TCP/IP" - "Wireless" - "User Setting". Enter the value to each configuration item and click Next. When you finish entering the "User Setting" values, click Submit.



  • If the wireless network that you wish to use is not shown in the list, click Detailed Configuration and configure each setting.

Detailed Configuration

Click the Detailed Configuration tab. Click the item you wish to configure. Select or enter a value for the appropriate item, then click Submit.

System Information

Click the System Information tab. You can view the system information, change the password, reset, check the system log information and update the firmware.

3.Control from the Web page of wiDock

Reboot/Factory default

Click System Information - Reset. Click Start for either Reboot or Reset to Factory Default.
