Silex FY15 Success and Planning for Accelerated Growth

I am recovering from a week in Japan where I was able to participate in various meetings (product strategy meeting, executive management meeting, etc.).  But the main purpose of my visit was to join the other 250+ Silex Japan employees at a company meeting on April 16th following by a dinner celebration.

I would like to share some key takeaways that I think are of interest to both employees and customers.

FY2015 Silex Achievements

FY2015 was a year of success for both Silex Technology America and our parent company, Silex Technology Inc.  Key financial metrics included the following:

  • Silex CEO, David SmithConsolidated Revenue: 105% of Plan and 110% from FY14
  • Consolidated Operating Profit: 103% of Plan and 134% from FY14
  • Silex Technology America Revenue: 111% of Plan and 120% from FY14
  • Silex Technology America Operating Profit: 138% of plan 106% from FY14

As you can see from the above results, Silex Technology America was the growth engine for the global organization.  Our success was a due to years of hard work which has positioned us to be a global leader in providing embedded wireless solutions.  In addition, we are committed to provide the highest levels of support to our customers.  David Smith, CEO of Silex Technology America is pictured below, re-emphasizing this point to all Silex employees.

 

FY2016 – FY2018 Silex Growth Plan

What is more exciting is the vision for the future.  Within 3 years, the target revenue growth for the Silex Technology Group is 60%.  This revenue growth will come from all three major product categories (Embedded Wireless, Device Networking and Wireless Infrastructure).  From an application perspective, we will continue to focus on our traditional vertical markets (document imaging and medical) but will expand into new target areas (education and industrial).

In order to support the growth, Silex Technology has added approximately 30 engineers to the organization.  This is a combination on new college graduates, transfer of employees from our grandparent company (Murata Machinery) and through the acquisition of embWiSe in early 2016.

Finally, from a technology point of view, Silex Technology is committed to improve Wi-Fi quality to deliver on our “When It Absolutely Must Connect” tagline.  We are working on new Wi-Fi technologies (802.11ad & 802.11ah) as well as making enhancements to the standard (Mesh networking and ultra-low latency).
